Bread and wine. I've just come back from a lovely holiday in France, and it struck me once again how basic these are, appearing on the table at just about every meal. In Jesus' world too, bread was the basic foodstuff, and wine, not in a posh bottle but the local, probably rough, vintage, drunk watered. Bread and wine, everyday and for everyone. And Jesus takes them, blesses and shares them and makes them the pledge of his promise to be with us always. As we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi that is what we celebrate.
